Newspaper Map

Newspaper Map is a neat tool for finding newspapers either by name or by location.  Each newspaper is given a color coded placemark (depicting the language the newspaper in written in)  and is placed on a world map (depicting the place of publication).  Clicking on a placemark will bring you to the website for the newspaper. Newspapers can be translated to numerous languages including English, Italian, Spanish, French, Dutch, Japanese, Russian and Portuguese.

In My Backyard

In My Backyard (IMBY) is a tool from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory that allows you to estimate the amount of electricity that can be generated from wind or solar power in your own backyard. You enter your address along with the size of the solar panels or wind turbine structure in order to run the simulators.

If It Were My Home

If It Were My Home  is a great, interactive website that allows you to compare countries to the United States by the standard of living. The comparisons include electricity usage, oil usage, life expectancy, and money spent of health care. The size of the countries are also compared by overlapping them on a United States map.
